Virtual Comedy at FRINGEWORLD

I’ve been pivoting really hard recently!

Due to border closures, I was unable to get into WA for the Fringe World Perth Festival. I had a week of shows planned ad they had been selling really well… so with the help of The Laugh Resort and some great technology we’ve been able to deliver a live, on a life-sized screen comedy show.

The tech allows me to engage with the audience, hear the heckles and do the show in real time. Just in 2D rather than 3D. It's different to live comedy, and I'm so glad we went ahead and did this rather than cancelling.

This is what one lovely human said about the show:
“Amy did an amazing job of making her audience not even realise she was only in 2D! I love how they set her up virtually, looking as if she was right on stage with us. Very relatable comedy and my girl friends and I enjoyed laughing and sipping on wine - babies in audience were great”

Lots of learning and things to take away from this experience. I think it’s important that every industry try ways to adapt and grow with the challenges we’re presented - including comedy :D
