International Women's Day Events
I was very proud to be part of a number of International Women’s Day events this past week. What an absolute privilege to help celebrate powerful women and raise awareness for the fight for equality that still exists in our community. Here are some of the highlights of my week.
Guest Speaker at the No Woman Left Behind Conference
Virtual Comedy for the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) International women’s day online luncheon.
Hosted the 40th Anniversary of the Isolated Children's Parents' Association NT dinner and provided entertainment for the guests.
Was the special guest at City of Palmerston Storytime with the mums and bubs groups.
The theme for #IWD2022 was #BreakTheBias.
I think it’s a really interesting theme because it encourages us to look at our own preconceived ideas, our biases and stereotypes and pushes us to reflect on ways to be more diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
I am well aware that I come from a position of immense privilege, and have been pleased this week to spend a lot of time listening and trying to unlearn some of the biases I hold. I still have a lot to learn.
