October Business Month Workshops
This week I ran 2x workshops for October Business Month at City of Darwin Library
They both sold out and both were a lot of fun, it was delightful meeting so many diverse business owners and professionals in Darwin. Here’s some of the key takeaways
Workshop 1: Knowing Your Pitch (applying for grants, funding and sponsorship)
- applying for grants is like going to the gym, the more you do it the stronger you get
- look for partnerships and collaboration to strengthen your ask and show community want for the idea
- you’ve got to apply with confidence, don’t let the people with money doubt that you can deliver what you say, you need conviction and passion to cut through competitive funding applications
Workshop 2: Personal Branding (why it’s important in Darwin)
- the more authentic you are the easier it is for your ‘brand’ to stick, live it with unapologetic pride
- got to spend time on personal reflection and thinking about who you are and why you do what you do, the more you spend on it the better you get at articulating it and being true to that brand
- ask people who matter, you don’t get to control your brand, it’s a narrative that exists without you, so get feedback and take it on board
Hope everyone has a great OBM! Thanks to the Library for partnering with me to deliver affordable sessions for people.
