Aspire Entrepreneur Program
Today was one of my favourite work days of 2019. I was asked by Charles Darwin University Aspire program to develop a full day program for year 11s that flipped problems into opportunities in an entrepreneurial thinking activity.
What ended up being “A University Project in a Day” is something I am utterly proud of and incredibly lucky to have been part of.
20 young Territorians from different schools came together to pitch solutions to problems they face including impractical school curriculums, youth homelessness and surviving in hot climates.
They developed business ideas and then presented their proposals to a panel of judges including Adam Steer from ABC Darwin, Kate Worden MLA: Member for Sanderson and Dante St James from Clickstarter.
What an incredible insight into the optimism and intelligence of the next generation. They worked incredibly hard and were so agile in their thinking. Even though I was facilitating I think I learnt more from them!
Future is in good hands. Even more so when we provide our young people with opportunities and safe places to be creative about real world problems. So proud.
