Award Winning Fringe Venue

Absolutely thrilled the Coopers Comedy Garden at Hotel Darwin was awarded the best venue at this 2019 Darwin Fringe Festival.

We worked crazy hard to make a space that comics could perform in and audiences could laugh their asses off! We had 17 shows over 7 nights including a bunch of interstate acts and local comedians performing solo shows for the first time.

It's absolutely humbling to be recognised for creating a positive space that so many people enjoyed (predictions are over 800 people came to the Comedy Garden). This is one of the things I adore about Darwin, if you have a positive idea and bring the right people together around it, you an achieve awesome things.

In 2017 when we started the Comedy Garden was a small space for the local acts who couldn't find a venue during the Fringe, now it is undeniably one of the hubs of the festival and a favourite location to check out the top comedian acts in Darwin in July.

Thank you so much to Penny and Brett from Hotel Darwin for supporting the space and all your staff for making it so enjoyable, thanks also to Shane from Coopers for sponsoring and setting up a pop up bar for the event, and to ZipPrint, Palm City Resort and Top End Comedy for partnering. And of course a huge thanks to everyone that volunteered, performed and became part of the Comedy Garden family.
