For the past 2 months I’ve worked with 8 young content creators in a pilot program for the City of Darwin. LAUNCH MEDIA was an opportunity for young people interested in social media influencing, media making and events to learn about the roll of social media in building communities, connecting people and building brands. We ran weekly workshops in specific skills development and in establishing their social media presence and unique selling points as a social media influencer in the Darwin community. The workshops led to the 8 young people covering National Youth Week activities in the Top End and also engaging in inline discussions about youth issues.
It was such a rewarding and fun project to be involved in. Amy from Amiable Communications developed the pilot program and delivered the skills workshops and also provided mentoring for the young people involved. As always we adore working with the City of Darwin’s youth services team and thank them for the opportunity to run this sort of program.
We really believe there is a gap in Darwin for young people’s voices and their natural flair for social media marketing and encourage people to look at investing time and energy into building the confidence of young social media influences and content creators.
